New faces always welcome.

Parent Club is a place where parents and carers of deaf children can meet and share knowledge and experience. It's the only forum in the area that specifically caters for those who care for deaf children and is usually held 6 times a year.

Fiona Forkin, long standing committee member of the society set up Parent Club back in 2006, has run it ever since.

"Sometimes being a parent can feel like a lonely business but Parent Club is all about knowing that there are others in the same boat as you who are willing to listen and offer support if its needed." Fiona said.

"We run the club fairly regularly and details can always be found on the website or they are emailed out to our members. Please feel free to come and join us..the refreshments are on us."

NDCS Live Chat available for parents

NDCS Live Chat was launched for parents with deaf children and young people. Experts are online to chat on all aspects of childhood deafness at the UK’s first Live Chat Helpline on childhood deafness, www.ndcs.org.uk/livechat.

It is a secure and confidential service, providing clear and balanced information and advice on matters including audiology, pre-school support, education, local services, welfare and technology.
Live Chat works like most online chat systems and provides an easy and efficient method of contacting the NDCS Helpline. After clicking on a live chat button, a parent is taken to a new window where they can send a question to a dedicated NDCS Helpline worker and start a private online chat.
Regular opening hours are Monday to Friday between 9.30am and 5pm.
