PDDCS Annual General Meeting 2014

PDDCS Annual General Meeting 2014

Monday 19 May
7.00 pm (refreshments from 6.30 pm)
Jack Hunt School

What is an AGM?
At an Annual General Meeting (AGM) clubs and societies take stock of what has happened over the past year, elect committee members and officers and discuss their plans for the forthcoming year with their members. It is an open meeting to which anyone with an interest in the society can come along and take part. As our Society is concerned with Deaf Children we welcome all parents and carers of deaf children, along with interested members in the Deaf community and anyone who works with or has an interest in deaf children.

Why should I bother to attend?

Unless our members tell us what they want for their children we may end up running events and activities which aren’t that popular. You may feel that you wish to get involved and help out in some way but feel a little unsure or shy of knowing what to say or ask. Or you may also wish to make some comment which you haven’t felt able to at other events. The AGM is a good place to ask a question without feeling daft! Remember – we are all like minded people who want the best for deaf children in Peterborough. So come along and see what happens and how it happens! Will I be expected to go on the Committee?

No! Only if you want to – and if you do want to you will be very welcome. The Committee is comprised of named officers (such as the Chair) and other officers who all agree to take on roles such as running Playscheme or helping to organise activities etc.

How do the elections work?

All the current Committee and officers step down and then the election and re-election process begins. The first officer to be elected is the Chair. A committee member will nominate a person and then another committee member will second them. If more than one person stands for a position the process goes to a vote. If you are interested in finding out more about vacant posts or being on the committee please contact us peterborough@ndcsgroup.org.uk

Is the meeting boring??

No! We all like a bit of a laugh so put the date in your diary now and we hope to see you there.

Communication Support will be provided.
